An ode to a long life... and Poser's high resolution morphs :D

This is actually Wawa from Sen's comic. I needed to go all out for his wrinkles.

M4 base, beard made in max, morphs in zBrush, rendered in poser, photoshop BW filter & levels.

Would making your own character in zBrush be more difficult than making it in max?

probably yes. You could probably make it easily, but it would be a terrible mesh to work with. In ZBrush you have far less control over individual polygons and therefore polygon flow, and with max you can build it up polygon by polygon with bending in mind. ZBrush is great for sculpting and sculptures, and also some polypainting and generally organic stuff, or morphing a pre-existing mesh. But for hardcore polygon modelling Max or Maya is far better suited; much more control over individual aspects of the mesh.

real nice to see such brilliant character development for out of the box long in the tooth M4 base.
So little is done with that figure in the forums and galleries especially of an old man. Wish more characters like this were available in the community to use for those dunderheads of us unable to create our own.

I think I will do that once I create my own male figure. The possibilities are endless

This is an amazing portrait. Very serene looking. It's the kind of picture that want's to draw you inside the head of the old man.

it does indeed .... but you can only export or Go Z  at low resolution , you need the HD plugin which they only make
available to there vendors if i'm not mistaken ..... ( insert epic eye roll here )

thanks. You can either make your own character in 3DSMax from scratch, or use a pre-existing base character from DAZ or Poser. I use the Michael 4 Base from DAZ and made the custom shapes using zBrush. Poser Pro 11 allows you to make those shapes high resolution. The rest, like the materials, lighting is done in Poser. The beard was done in 3DSMax, and converted to a conforming figure in Poser.

Ero, Excellent work! :+fav:

Not often you see an excellently done "old man" character for Poser [most of the ones I've seen are either "lame and goofy" looking or their age is only skin deep [they used to have some of those at RDNA-- all the wrinkles were "texture paint and displacement"]

Looks kinda like a certain Scotsman... who used to be Double Ought Something but was last seen as Professor Jo-o-o-ones! or was it Alan Quartermain? He's the kind o'bonny Scotsman they wrote about in "The Drunken Scotsman" www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dl96vN…

Yeah that fellow that single-highhandedly saved that movie "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" just by the look on his face... I'd say that H. Rider Haggard exaggerated a bit about Africa [I'd say he'd been drinkin' some bonny Scot's Malt...] bit it does seem to be true that there don't seem to be the same kind of 'larger than life' heroes that Haggard 'painted'... The comic book heroes don't seem to compare to the literary ones.

Wawa is one fine piece of work... maybe he should get a comic short of his own of his "younger years"... ;-)
